As we adjust to a new way of life due to the coronavirus pandemic and many people are spending more time at home, SDG&E understands customer concerns about the impact to their energy bills.

SDG&E is committed to helping its customers through this challenging situation by voluntarily halting disconnections due to unpaid bills, offering flexible payment plans and postponing non-critical planned outages.

If your income has been impacted by COVID-19, you may be eligible for a discount on your energy bill of 30% or more. Learn more and apply at sdge.com/care.

SDG&E has understandably received many questions from customers wondering if adjustments will be made to rates and pricing plans as part of its COVID-19 response. As rates are set by state regulators, SDG&E is communicating with policymakers on short and long-term rate solutions to further help customers during this pandemic.

If you are concerned about increased power usage at home, a great way to track your usage is with SDG&E’s newly updated mobile app available in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. The app has a tool that allows you to monitor your day-to-day energy use and set energy use alerts.

Article 2: CALIFORNIA LIFELINE PROGRAM DISCOUNTS PHONE SERVICES

The California LifeLine Program is a state program that provides discounted home phone and cell phone services to eligible households. These discounts can help you lower the cost of your phone bill. Only one discount per household is allowed (except for teletypewriter users and for Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program participants). Each household must choose to get the discount either on a home phone or on a cell phone, but not on both. To learn more, visit Californialifeline.com or cpuc.ca.gov. You can also call 1-866-272-0349 (English) or 1-866-272-0350 (Spanish).

Federal Assistance is available too. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) offers help with utility bill payment, home weatherization and other assistance. Learn more on 211sandiego.org.
