Aawok Georgiana Trull Memorial Scholarship
Aawok Georgiana was an elder from the Yurok Tribe who spent more than 40 years of her life dedicated to revitalizing the Yurok language. She had many accomplishments, including her contribution to a Yurok alphabet and a published conversation dictionary. In her honor the Aawok Georgiana Trull Memorial Scholarship, an opportunity open to California Native people active in Indigenous Language Revitalization, was created.
Application deadline is March 31, 2022
Who is Eligible to Apply:
- Federally recognized and non-federally recognized California Indigenous students
- Students enrolled in a two or four year university, graduate school program, or trade school
- A preference is given to single mothers, welders, and/or survivors of or descendants of survivors of boarding schools, honoring some of the many roles Aawok Georgiana had in life.
